Eight new entrants to the National Science & Maths Quiz are poised to make huge statement at this year’s edition after their impressive run during the Regional Qualifiers.

Ashanti and Volta regions have two each whilst Greater Accra, former Brong Ahafo, Central as well as Eastern regions produced one school each.

Three-year-old, Fafraha Community Day SHS secured their debut slot after thrashing Accra High School and Amasaman SHS in the Greater Accra Regional Qualifiers. You may refer to them as the ‘Giant Slayers’ tasty for success.

Fafraha Community Day SHS Contestants

Team leader of Fafraha Community Day SHS, Patrick Bedie, is hopeful they will make it past the Preliminary Stage when they clash with Labone SHS and Kwabeng Anglican SHS on Thursday June 20, 2019.

Excited Assin State SHS supporters

In a not-so-surprising contest, Assin State SHS thwarted the plans of Aggrey Memorial SHS in the Central Regional Qualifiers to make their first ever appearance at the Nationals a reality. The 13-year-old school was phenomenal against their contenders to secure a place at NSMQ2019.

They will begin their campaign on the last day of Preliminary Stage contests on Saturday June 22, 2019.  Assin State SHS will come face to face with Awudome SHS and Presby SHS, Bechem.

Adaklu SHS and Vakpo SHS represent the Volta Region’s set of new entrants, and hope to improve the Region’s performance at the National Championships.

Adaklu SHS contestants

After an impressive performance at the Ashanti Regional Qualifiers, Adventist Girls’ SHS, Ntonso and Nkawie SHTS look forward to keeping the fire ablaze when they take on their respective contenders in the Prelims.

Amanten SHS also joins thirteen other Brong Ahafo Region based schools with the hope of winning the Region’s first ever trophy this year.

The Eastern Region is not left out, as it has its fair share of new entrants. Asamankese SHS will taste their first ever National contest on June 22, 2019 when they come up against Swedru SHS and Kalpohin SHS at the Prelims.

These schools may want to draw inspiration from the likes 2018 debutant, Sonrise SHS; beating two- time NSMQ champions, Opoku Ware School at the Preliminary Stage in 2018.
