Fafraha Community Day SHS became the talk of town when they slayed one of the NSMQ giants, Accra High School, in the Greater Accra Regional Qualifiers to make its first appearance at the National Science & Maths Quiz.
However, the 3-year-old school failed to replicate similar performance at the National Championship, when they came up against Regional rivals, Labone SHS and Eastern Region based Kwabeng Anglican SHS in a Preliminary Stage contest.
Labone SHS won the contest with 52 points, while Fafraha Community Day SHS followed with 29 points and Kwabeng Anglican SHS only managed to garner 21 points.
The Adenta based school, Fafraha Community Day SHS, has a slim margin of qualifying to the one-eighth stage as one of the 18 highest scoring losing schools, due to their score.
H’Mount Sinai also failed to impress, when they came face-to-face with Atebubu SHS and Ghana SHS, Koforidua at the Prelims. Their substitution in the fourth round did not do the magic of returning to the game.
The Akropong-Akuapem based school rode on the back of St. Roses SHS in a Regional Qualifier, where they narrowly qualified with a tie-breaker. They were, however, cut to size by Atebubu SHS at the Prelims of the ongoing National Science & Maths Quiz.
At the end of the contest, Atebubu SHS pulled 31 points to send two Eastern Region schools, H’Mount Sinai SHS, 21 points, and Ghana SHS, Koforidua 19 points, packing from the contest.
