Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary have won their One-Eighth Stage contest and becomes the first school to book a spot at the Quarterfinal Stage of the 2019 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz.
This may have been the revenge POJOSS was yearning for after they fell prey to Koforidua Sec. Tech at the same stage of last year’s Nationals.
The one-time winners of NSMQ defeated Koforidua Sec. Tech, their Regional Rivals, and Notre Dame Girls’ SHS to seed their school for next year’s edition.
It was ‘Mmarimamma’ that took an early lead in the first round, but failed to mainain their momentum in the subsequent rounds and eventually got overtaken by POJOSS.
All three schools failed to make a single point at the Round 3 also known as ‘The Problem of the Day.’
Notre Dame Girls’ SHS failed to capitalise on the mistakes of their contenders in the penultimate round to take the contest beyond the reach of POJOSS.
Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary won the content with 36 points with Notre Dame Girls’ SHS and Koforidua Secondary Technical School ending the contest with 23 and 18 points respectively.
POJOSS will clash with winners of the second and third contests in the Quarterfinals of the 2019 National Science & Maths Quiz.
NSMQ record holders, Presbyterian Boys’ SHS, Legon will begin their campaign in a contest involving Assin State College and Ofori Panin SHS in the second One-Eighth Stage contest.
The Western Region based Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS will take on St. John’s School and Tamale Islamic Science SHS in the last contest of the day.
