Keta SHTS retains its seeded spot at the 2019 National Science & Maths Quiz after defeating their contenders Edinaman SHS and Bekwai SDA SHS at the One-Eighth Stage.
11 schools have so far lost their seed to Regional Qualifiers, but the Volta Region based school refused to go down in their first contest.
At the end of the first round, it was Edinaman SHS that led with 13 points, followed by Keta SHTS with 11 points and Bekwai SDA SHS ending the round with 10 points. However, the tables turned as Keta SHTS overtook the Edinaman SHS in the second round, also known as the Speed Race.
The contest ended with Keta SHTS 27 scoring points, thus progressing on to the Quarter Final Stage, while Bekwai SDA SHS lost with 19 points and Edinaman SHS with 8 points.
Though their scores were not impressive, the Keta SHTS contestants are poised to better their act going into the next stage of the competition. In 2018, they had a good run, ending the competition as semifinalists, after going down to eventual Champions, St. Peter’s SHS in a keenly contested battle.
