Achimota School and Akwamuman SHS have started the 2018 National Science & Maths Quiz on a winning note.
They were the latest to make it to the next round of the competition after beating the contenders in a separate contest this afternoon.
St. Peter’s SHS and Sandema SHTS have sailed through to the next stage of the 2018 National Science & Maths Quiz and Science Festival.
The duo picked a spot in two separate contests staged at the R.S Amegashie Auditorium and the New N Block at the University of Ghana, Legon.
The 2nd edition of the Sci-Tech fair organised by Primetime Limited, producers of the 2018 National Science & Maths Quiz, has ended at the University of Ghana with a call to the youth to find homemade solutions for the problems confronting Ghana.
The two-day event saw over 35 participants, largely drawn from both Junior and Senior High Schools exhibiting their projects.
The aim of the event was to give students the opportunity to put into practice the theories learnt in the classroom.
Speaking at the brief closing ceremony, Mrs. Nana Akua Ankomah-Asare, Managing Director of Primetime Limited, said this year’s fair has been a huge success considering the surge in the number of exhibitors. According to the Managing Director, Primetime Limited will not rest on its laurels in encouraging and motivating the young ones in using their brain-power to make their societies a better place.
“We are really happy you were able to participate in this year’s Sci-Tech Fair. We’ve seen a lot of amazing things that you have exhibited and hope that this would not be the end of it.
We will continue to inspire you to put up innovative projects that can be put to the good use of the Ghanaian people,” she indicated.
Mrs. Ankomah-Asare further thanked the teachers and the sponsors; GOIL, Prudential Life Insurance Ghana and Tullow Ghana, for their support in making the 2018 Sci-Tech Fair a reality.
The sponsors also took turns to congratulate the exhibitors and pledged their support for similar events in the future.
All the participating schools received a certificate of participation with Mfantsipim School, Two Roses International School, and St. Monica’s SHS taking cash prizes for their exceptional projects.
Two individual exhibitors, Salifu Mohammed, otherwise known as Med the Innovator, as well as Seth Wangara also received cash prizes.
Seth Wangara won the hearts of many with his solar transformer which powers his home in Adobewura Number 2, a town closer to Sefwi Bekwai in the Western Region.
Battle line has been drawn between 108 schools as the 2018 National Science & Maths Quiz enters the preliminary stage of competition at the University of Ghana.
The prelims which will take place from Monday, June 11 to Saturday, June 16, 2018, will simultaneously take place at the R.S Amegashie Auditorium and the New ‘N’ Block at the University of Ghana, Legon.
Balloting for 108 schools to compete in the preliminary contests in the 2018 National Science & Maths Quiz and the Science Festival is scheduled for today, Saturday June 9, 2018.
The preliminary competition which kick starts on Monday, June 11, 2018, will have the winners of the various regional contests drawn in threes and into 36 contests to battle it out for a place in the next round of the competition.
The 2nd edition of the Sci-Tech Fair has officially opened with over 35 exhibitors largely drawn from Junior and Senior High schools across the country.
The Fair provides the platform where students present their science project results in the form of a report, display board, and models they have invented.
Primetime, producers of the 2018 National Science & Maths Quiz and Science Festival, has held an orientation programme for the participants of this year’s event to be staged at the University of Ghana campus.
The move was to equip the participating schools with relevant information geared at making their time at the competition worth an experience.
Over 35 exhibitors largely drawn from Junior and Senior High Schools have showcased their projects at the first day of the Sci-Tech fair put together by Primetime Limited, organiser of the 2018 National Science & Maths Quiz and Science Festival.
The two-day Sci-Tech Fair is sponsored by GOIL, Prudential Life Insurance Ghana and Tullow Ghana Limited.

The 2018 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz and Science Festival has been launched in Accra.
This year’s competition coincides with the silver jubilee celebration, since its inception in 1993, in promoting the study of science and mathematics in Senior High Schools and to equip students with quick thinking, probing and scientific mind about the things around them, while fostering healthy academic rivalry among schools.
All is set for the National Science & Maths Quiz and Science Festival, which brings together 135 Senior High Schools each year to participate in the National Championship, in Accra. This will be the 23rd edition of the Quiz.
As a prelude to the Science Festival, an official launch will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the British Council Hall at 5:00pm. According to Primetime, producers of the National Science & Maths Quiz, the purpose of the launch is to inform stakeholders in Ghana’s Educational sector and the general public about how far the Competition has come, emphasize its contribution in producing scientists for the country and unveil some of the additions being made to the Competition in this year’s edition.
