It was a tough battle. All three finalists were hungry for a win. Mfantsipim School, to win it for the third time and get to keep the trophy, Opoku Ware with the same quest and Adisadel College, to get the trophy for the first time.
Having been to the finals two consecutive times, 2015 and 2016, Adisadel College, was not ready to let go thus, fought fiercely to emerge winners of the 2016 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz.
Three schools have qualified to the quarter finals of the ongoing National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
All the three schools, Presby SHTS, Aburi, Pope John SHS and Ghana National College, were among the 109 unseeded schools for the 2016 NSMQ.
The 2016 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz is underway at the University of Ghana, Legon. Already, 30 schools have booked their spots at the one-eighth stage of the competition, which begins on Monday, June 13, 2016.
However, 18 losing schools with the highest scores at the preliminary stage would also progress to the one-eighth stage. These losing schools, together with the 36 winners of the preliminary contests, would meet the 27 seeded schools which made it to the quarter final stage of the 2015 edition. The 2016 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz comes off from Monday, June 6 to Wednesday June 29, 2016 at the University of Ghana, Legon. This year’s edition would be the 21st in the history of the competition which started in 1993.
Competing this year would be 136 schools from the ten regions of Ghana. Out of these schools, 27 of them are seeded schools and would not compete at the preliminary stage, by virtue of having qualified to the quarter final stage in the 2015 edition of the competition. Therefore, 109 schools would compete at the preliminary stage.
