The 2017 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz has officially been launched in Accra with 135 second cycle institutions across the country to compete for the laurels.
This year’s curtain-raiser is a novelty to have happened outside the University of Ghana, Legon, where the month-long popular television quiz competition will be staged.
It was a tough battle. All three finalists were hungry for a win. Mfantsipim School, to win it for the third time and get to keep the trophy, Opoku Ware with the same quest and Adisadel College, to get the trophy for the first time.
Having been to the finals two consecutive times, 2015 and 2016, Adisadel College, was not ready to let go thus, fought fiercely to emerge winners of the 2016 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz.
The semifinal stage of the 2016 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016.
The nine schools which have made it to this stage will battle with one another to book one of the three slots in the final stage.
The 2016 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz comes off from Monday, June 6 to Wednesday June 29, 2016 at the University of Ghana, Legon. This year’s edition would be the 21st in the history of the competition which started in 1993.
Competing this year would be 136 schools from the ten regions of Ghana. Out of these schools, 27 of them are seeded schools and would not compete at the preliminary stage, by virtue of having qualified to the quarter final stage in the 2015 edition of the competition. Therefore, 109 schools would compete at the preliminary stage.
