The semifinal contests of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) will take place on Thursday at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Legon. The first semifinal is at 9am, the second at 12pm and the last one at 2:30pm. The first semifinal contest at 9:00am will feature Presbyterian Boys’s SHS – Legon vs. Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS vs Adisadel College.
The second semifinal contest tomorrow will feature Achimota School, Accra Academy and Prempeh College
The Last semifinal contest will feature Koforidua SHTS, University Practice SHS and Kumasi High School.
In 2004, Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS was eliminated by St. Thomas Aquinas who were the reigning champions then.
This year, Porter Girls’ beat Kumasi Academy and Wesley Grammar School at the quarterfinal stage to secure a place in the semifinals.
Archbishop Porter Girls’ mentioned that they want the trophy to crown their 50th anniversary celebrations.
With regards to Adisadel College, they were eliminated by St. Francis Xavier at the quarterfinal stage in 2014.
This year, Adisco beat Sogakofe SHS and Abuakwa Stage College at the quarterfinals to book their place in the semifinals.
In 2014, PRESEC didn’t make past the 1/8th stage. They had to go through the Greater Accra Regional competition to join this year’s contest.
PRESEC joined this year’s contest at the 1/8th stage where they beat Bueman SHS and Swedru SHS to book a place in the quarterfinals.
