St. Thomas Aquinas SHS, 2013 NSMQ Champions, put up a sterling performance to beat Juaso SHTS and Bishop Herman College at the one-eighth stage of the 2017 National Science & Maths Quiz.
It was a close contest at the end of the first round of the competition as the trio displayed their dexterity in responding to fundamental questions in Science and Mathematics.
At the end of Round one, Juaso SHTS and Bishop Herman College were at par with eighteen points whilst St. Thomas Aquinas SHS slightly led with twenty points.
St. Thomas Aquinas SHS further extended their lead by a margin of twenty-one to end the second round with a total of forty-one points whilst the other two schools made twenty points each.
The case was not different in the remaining three rounds of competition as St. Thomas Aquinas SHS dominated the whole contest to send their competitors out of the competition.
After the end of the contest, Juaso SHTS and Bishop Herman College scored 37 and 34 points respectively whilst St. Thomas Aquinas SHS came tops with 67 points.
The contestants for St. Thomas Aquinas had massive support from both students and alumni (Old Toms) who cheered them on to victory.

St. Thomas Aquinas SHS will have to win their quarter-final contest against St. Hubert Minor Seminary SHS and Nifa SHS to keep alive the dream of winning their second trophy this year.
