University Practice SHS narrowly escaped what would have been a painful defeat to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2017 National Science & Maths Quiz.
They won the second quarter-final contest in a nerve-wracking competition after they answered a tie breaker question to send Tamale SHS and KNUST SHS out of the competition.

KNUST SHS scored 33 points to complete the contest whilst University Practice SHS won with 51 points as their closest contender, Tamale SHS scored 48 points.
Before the final round of the contest, University Practice had 48 points, with a 13- point lead ahead of Tamale SHS whilst KNUST was trailing with 33 points.
It was Tamale SHS who staged an impressive comeback in the fifth round to equalize with University Practice SHS. They solved all the four riddles in the final round, requiring that the tie be broken. But it was University Practice SHS who kept their composure to emerge victorious in the competition.
They will clash at the semifinals with Ghana National College and Adisadel College
