Presbyterian Boys’ SHS, Legon, five-time NSMQ champions, triumphed over Keta SHTS and Jachie Pramso SHS to sail through to the semi-finals of the 2017 National Science & Maths Quiz.
They won the nerve-wracking contest with 53 points whilst their closest contender, Keta SHTS ended the competition with 44 points with Jachie Pramso SHS placing third with 31 points.

Before the ninth quarter-final contest, the R.S Amegashie auditorium was filled with teeming supporters of the three competing schools, charged up to see their respective schools win the contest.
The contest was decided in the final round as Presec and Keta SHTS were tied at 41 points with Jachie Pramso SHS scoring 31 points.
Presec, five-time champions of the National Science & Maths Quiz, won their contest by unraveling three of the four riddles in the final round of riddles.

However, Keta SHTS did not give up as they also answered one of the riddles. They went on to attempt the final riddle on the first clue, a correct answer which would have fetched five points and won them the contest. However, they failed to produce a correct answer.

The contestants of Presbyterian Boys’ SHS capitalized on the wrong answer provided by their closest contender to correctly answer the final riddle for the maximum points to emerge victors of the contest.

Presec will meet Kumasi High School and 2013 NSMQ winners, St. Thomas Aquinas SHS in the third semi-final contest on Monday, June 26.

The 2017 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz is sponsored by the Ghana Education Service through the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) and supported by Tigo, GOIL, Prudential Life Insurance, Accra College of Medicine and GCB Bank.
