Adisadel College, reigning champions, have made it to the 2017 National Science & Maths Quiz finals for the third successive time after Ghana National College saved them by answering the final riddle.
They won the nerve-wracking first semi-final contest with 36 points; a single point ahead of their closest contender, University Practice SHS who had 35 points while Ghana National College placed third with 27 points.
The hard-fought competition was decided in the fifth and final round as the scores for the penultimate round were too close to call.
Adisadel College, in the final round, failed to answer any of the four riddles but sailed through when Ghana National College managed to pick two of the riddles leaving only one riddle for University Practice to answer; the points of which were not enough to beat Adisadel College. The second riddle was left unanswered.
The winners of the last two semi-final contest will join Adisadel College in the finals for the coveted trophy and the bragging rights.
Currently ongoing is the second semi-final contest involving three-time champions, Prempeh College and two-time victors, Mfantsipim College as well as Mawuli School.
This year’s grand finale will be at the National Theatre on June 29, 2017.
The 2017 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz is sponsored by the Ghana Education Service through the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) and supported by Tigo, GOIL, Prudential Life Insurance, Accra College of Medicine and GCB Bank.
