108 schools to ballot today for NSMQ2018 Preliminary Stage

Balloting for 108 schools to compete in the preliminary contests in the 2018 National Science & Maths Quiz and the Science Festival is scheduled for today, Saturday June 9, 2018.

The preliminary competition which kick starts on Monday, June 11, 2018, will have the winners of the various regional contests drawn in threes and into 36 contests to battle it out for a place in the next round of the competition.

The 36 winning schools, together with 18 highest-scoring losing schools, will join the 27 seeded schools in the one-eighth stage on NSMQ2018.

The prelims will simultaneously be staged at the R.S Amegashie Auditorium and the New ‘N’ Block of the University of Ghana, Legon will end on June 16, 2018 after which the balloting for the one-eighth of the NSMQ2018 is conducted.

The National Science & Maths Quiz and Science Festival is sponsored by the Ghana Education Service through the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), with support from GCB Bank, GTP, Lancaster University Ghana, Academic City College, Medifem Multi-Specialist Hospital, Accra College of Medicine, Hawtie Makeup, West African Centre for Cell Biology for Infectious Pathogens and Awake Purified Drinking water.

Goil, Prudential Life Insurance Ghana and Tullow are sponsoring the Sci-Tech Fair while BOND Savings & Loans and RMG Ghana are sponsoring the Mentorship Sessions. Media partners are Joy News, Citi FM and Pulse Ghana.
