St. Margaret Mary SHS have for the first time made it to the Quarter Finals of the National Science & Maths Quiz.
Their victory is an improvement on their previous performance when they made their first appearance in 2015 at the national level.

They beat Takoradi SHS and Labone SHS in a rather less exciting one-eighth stage contest to keep alive their hopes of remaining in the competition.
The Dansoman-based school, St. Margaret Mary SHS, won the contest with 26 points; 3 points higher than NSMQ2017 quarterfinalist, Takoradi SHS while regional rivals, Labone SHS scored 19 points.
Takoradi SHS have now lost their seeded slot to St. Margaret Mary SHS and would have to fight their way back to the National stage by first winning their regional competition next year.
The number of schools from the Greater Accra Region in this year’s quarterfinals has increased to four after NSMQ record-holders, Presbyterian Boys’ SHS, Legon, St. Thomas Aquinas SHS and West Africa SHS won their respective contests earlier.
St. Margaret Mary SHS will contest in the quarterfinals on Saturday, June 30, 2018, with the winners of the twenty-third and twenty-fourth one-eighth stage contests.

Meanwhile, Holy Child School will take on Breman Asikuma SHS and Akwamuman SHS and later in the day, Nifa SHS will battle it out with Krobo Girls’ SHS and Dzodze Penyi SHS, for slots at the Quarterfinal.
The stakes are high and the 27 quarterfinalists will not only be looking forward to beating their competitors but doing so with higher scores to increase their cash prize from GCB Bank, Sponsors of the Money Zone.

At the quarterfinal stage, final scores of each of the competing schools will be multiplied by GHS 5, with the amount paid out to each of the three contestants as well as their coach.
