Assin State College bows out from NSMQ2019 with heads up

‘For a first time you didn’t do badly at all; be proud and I look forward to seeing you in the future.’
Those were the consolation words from the Quiz mistress, Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann, to the second-year students of Assin State College, after they lost their One-Eighth Stage contest to record holders, Presec, Legon.
The two contestants, Johnson Nemaku and Sandra Osei, were phenomenal against the likes of Aggrey Memorial AME Zion SHS, Gyaase SHS, Fettehman SHS and Efutu SHTS in the Central Regional Qualifiers. The four-round contest was all that they needed to shrug off other opponents, to make their first appearance at the National Championships.

As if that was not enough, they put up an equally good performance at the Preliminary Stage, although it was not enough to win their contest against Awudome SHS and Presby SHS, Bechem. They however sailed through to the One-Eighth Stage as one of the 18 highest scoring losing schools, where they gave NSMQ record holders, Presec, Legon a run for their money.

Assin State College to took a Round One lead, but could not maintain the momentum; losing their position to Presec, Legon.
Although Assin State College may have ended their journey at an early stage of the Championship, they bowed out with loud applause from the audience, as debutants being represented by second year students.
