NSMQ record holders, Presbyterian Boys SHS, Legon survived a round one scare from their contenders, Assin State College and Ofori Panin SHS in the second One-Eighth stage contest which came off on June 24, 2019 at the R.S Amegashie Auditorium, UGBS, Legon.

At the end of the first round, first-timers Assin State College had taken an early lead with 14 points, followed closely by Ofori Panin SHS with a point difference while Presec, Legon lagged behind with 11 points.

However, the five-time champions quickly woke up from their slumber to douse the fire from their two contenders, and eventually got back in the lead in the remaining rounds.
The contest ended with the boys from Presec, Legon cementing their slot at the Quarterfinals with 47 points. Assin State College and Ofori Panin SHS finished with 31 and 25 points respectively.
OFORI PANIN SHS CONTESTANTS
Although Assin State College may have ended their journey at an early stage of the Championship, they bowed out with loud applause from the audience, as debutants being represented by second year students.
The Quiz mistress, Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann, congratulated the new entrants and told them to be proud of themselves.
Assin State College got to the National Stage, after defeating Aggrey Memorial SHS at the Central Regional Qualifiers.
