Ghanata SHS, St Thomas Aquinas SHS and St. Mary’s SHS have set the ball rolling as the first to contest in this year’s NSMQ Preliminary Stage. What began with a somber atmosphere ended as an incredible win for St. Thomas Aquinas SHS who showed off their wits with 65 points, while St. Mary’s SHS and Ghanata SHS trailed behind with 30 and 25 points respectively.

St Thomas Aquinas SHS, the first to answer a question correctly in the contest, also recorded the highest score in the first round, and cemented their place in the One-eighth Stage in this year’s National Science & Maths Quiz.

In Round Three, none of the three schools won the Prudential Life NSMQ Star, sponsored by Prudential Life Insurance. St Thomas Aquinas SHS came close with six points. The team with the perfect score of 10 from solving the Problem of the Day would have won GH¢2000.00, i.e. GH¢500.00 to each of the three contestants and their teacher.

With a whopping 65 points at the end of the first contest, St. Thomas Aquinas SHS also stands a chance of winning the AirtelTigo Highest Scorer of the Day award worth GH¢1000.
