Navrongo SHS made a magnificent comeback in the fifth #NSMQPrelims contest of the Northern Zone to secure their slot to the One-eighth Stage of the competition. They got a second chance at grabbing the NSMQ trophy after emerging as the top runner-up from Contest Four. In the fifth contest, they competed against Vitting SHS and the highly-ranked Notre Dame Seminary SHS.
On the other hand, after an embarrassing loss to Sandema SHTS in the Regional Qualifiers, Notre Dame Seminary SHS came back to lose miserably to Navrongo SHS.
In Round One, Navrongo SHS proved that they were ready for battle when they came back with a lot of grit to lead with 21 points.
The Speed Race proved to be a huge challenge for Vitting SHS, who were left in the woods by their contenders. Even the highly-ranked school – Notre Dame Seminary SHS was no match for the revived Navrongo SHS, as they continued to be at the forefront of the competition with 30 points in Round Two.
In Round Three, none of the contestants came close to winning the Prudential Life NSMQ Star, worth GH2000. However, Navrongo still led with 34 points followed by Notre Dame Seminary SHS and Vitting with 13 and 11 points respectively.
Navrongo SHS answered three out of four riddles correctly in round 5, winning the GOIL Riddle Bonanza worth GHC800. With 54 points, Navrongo SHS has remarkably beaten their former competitors from Contest Four; Bolgatanga SHS as a possible winner of the Airtel-Tigo highest Scorer of the Day worth Ghc1000.
Notre Dame Seminary SHS and Vitting SHS are out of the competition and have lost their second chance to Sandema SHTS with 26 points. The top runner-up will compete against Northern School of Business and Tamale Girls’ SHS in the final leg of prelims in the Northern Zone.
