Day Two of the Bono-Ahafo Preliminary Stage opened with a contest between Kintampo SHS, Techiman SHS and Drobo SHS. It was a closely run competition between Techiman SHS and Kintampo SHS in which Techiman SHS had a remarkable win, qualifying for the One-eighth stage of the National Science & Maths Quiz.

It was an interesting development considering Techiman SHS begun the contest with the lowest score in round one. Kintampo SHS dominated round one leading with 17 points followed by Drobo SHS and Techiman SHS with 13 and 9 points respectively.
There was an unexpected plot-twist in round two when the top scorers in round one – Kintampo SHS and Drobo SHS lost points! Kintampo SHS and Techiman SHS tied with 14 points and Drobo SHS had 11 points.
In round three, Techiman SHS had a perfect score of 10 from solving the Problem of the Day winning the Prudential Life NSMQ Star worth GHC 2000 sponsored by Prudential Life Insurance. Kintampo SHS came close with eight out of 10 points.

Kintampo SHS and Techiman SHS continued their duel for supremacy in round five with 32 and 31 points respectively, whereas Drobo SHS lurked behind with 19 points.
Unfortunately, none of the schools won the GOIL Riddle Bonanza worth GHC800.
Techiman SHS qualified to the one-eighth stage with 37 points and stands the chance of winning the Airtel-Tigo highest Scorer of the Day worth Ghc1000.
Kintampo SHS and Drobo SHS might get a second chance as top runners-up to compete in the last contest in Bono-Ahafo Zone.
