The final contest for Ashanti Region Preliminary Stage Day One featured St Hubert Seminary, Asanteman SHS and Afua Kobi Ampem SHS. The competition was truly intense as these three schools battled it out for a spot on the One-eighth stage.

Asanteman SHS was selected to take up two vacant slots at the National Championship but regrettably this second chance slipped through their hands despite their impressive performance.

In round one, St Hubert Seminary was at the forefront with 19 points, followed by Afua Kobi Ampem SHS and Asanteman SHS with 15 points each.

None of the three schools won the Prudential Life NSMQ Star worth GHS 2000 sponsored by Prudential Life Insurance and the GOIL Riddle Bonanza worth GHC800.

No school can ever be underestimated, especially in solving the Problem of the Day in round three. St Hubert Seminary who was leading the contest in the first two rounds had the lowest score of two points where as Asanteman SHS and Afua Kobi Ampem SHS had 4 points each.

At the end of the contest, St Hubert Seminary qualified by a slight margin with 37 points, Afua Kobi Ampem SHS followed closely with 35 points and Asanteman SHS with 33 points.
