The first contest at the NSMQ 2020 Semifinal Stage featured two-time NSMQ Champions, Opoku Ware School (1997, 2002), Accra Academy and Boa Amponsem SHS, with Opoku Ware School securing the first slot to the Finals.

In the first round, Accra Academy was at the forefront of the competition with 23 points, while Opoku Ware School and Boa Amponsem SHS followed with 20 and 10 points respectively.

At the end of Round Four, Opoku Ware School gave no leeway to their contenders and was far ahead with 55 points, leading their closest contender by a 17-point margin.
