The last Semifinal Stage contest of the 2020 edition of the NSMQ featured an awe-inspiring competition among five-time NSMQ Champions – Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, Legon, Kumasi Academy and Aburi Presby SHTS. At the end of the contest, Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, Legon cemented their place at this year’s Grand Finale with 66 points.

The former NSMQ champions showed off their experience by dominating the contest from start to finish. Supporters of the all-boys school described the contest as “a massacre of KUMACA and Aburi Presby SHTS”. They kept grabbing bonuses from their contenders’ main questions to accrue more points in Round One.

At the end of Round Two, Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School, Legon had an overwhelming 40 points. Kumasi Academy and Aburi Presby SHTS lurked behind with 12 and eight points respectively.

In Round Three, the audience was blown away when for the first time, they witnessed contestants beat the four-minute deadline with a spare minute to look over their solution for the Problem of the Day. The audience further witnessed another milestone as the boys accrued a perfect score of 10 points. This makes them the first to win the Prudential Life NSMQ Star worth GHC 3,400.00 at the Semifinal Stage.

Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School ended the contest with 66 points, wining the AirtelTigo Highest Scorer award worth, GH₵5,000.00. In second place, Kumasi Academy followed with 38 points and Aburi Presby SHTS in third place with 18 points.

It’s been 11 years since they last lifted the NSMQ trophy, will this year be any different?
