NSMQ2021: Sogasco takes charge of 2nd Volta-Oti Prelims; beat Mawuko Girls, SPACO

A 10-point margin was enough to see Sogakofe SHS sail through to the next stage.

Sogakofe Senior High School has made it to the One-eighth stage of the 2021 National Science & Maths Quiz Championship. The school also known as the ‘Lower Volta Varsity’ beat E.P.C. Mawuko Girls’ SHS, Ho and St. Paul’s SHS, Denu to qualify to the next stage of the competition.

The winners started off with an impressive 22 points in the first round of the contest with their closest contenders, St. Paul’s SHS scoring 8 points. The other schools picked up in the fourth and fifth rounds but that was not enough to topple the Sogakofe-based school.

Here is a breakdown of the scores

Round One – General questions on Chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics
Sogakope SHS: 22pts
St. Paul’s SHS: 08pts
E.P.C. Mawuko Girls’ SHS: 04pts

Round Two – The Speed race
Sogakope SHS: 27pts
St. Paul’s SHS: 07pts
E.P.C. Mawuko Girls’ SHS: 06pts


Round Three – Problem of the Day
Sogakope SHS: 28pts
St. Paul’s SHS: 08pts
E.P.C. Mawuko Girls’ SHS: 07pts

Round Four – True or False
Sogakope SHS: 36pts
E.P.C. Mawuko Girls’ SHS: 19pts
St. Paul’s SHS: 15pts

Round Five – Riddles
Sogakope SHS: 36pts
E.P.C. Mawuko Girls’ SHS: 26pts
St. Paul’s SHS: 15pts
