Apam SHS Stages Thrilling Comeback to Knock Out Adisadel College, Books Quarter-final Seat!

Apam Senior High School has snatched victory from the jaws of Adisadel College in an intense One-eighth contest of the 2024 National Science & Maths Quiz, securing a place in the Quarter-final stage with 40 points.

The competition between Apam SHS, Adisadel College, and Osei Kyeretwie SHS was intense from the very start. The atmosphere was electric, with emotions running high and cheers erupting from enthusiastic supporters. Both Adisadel College and Apam SHS kept the room alive with vibrant ‘jama’ songs, while supporters of Osei Kyeretwie SHS remained quiet.


Adisadel College in a comfortable lead in Round One

Adisadel College took an early lead in Round One, answering five questions and gaining a bonus to accumulate 16 points. Osei Kyeretwie SHS, however, was left behind with nine points, while Apam SHS answered four questions to secure 12 points, keeping themselves within reach.


The ‘Prudential Life Speed Race’ in Round Two saw Apam SHS hot on the heels of Adisadel College, with scores at 18 and 19, respectively while Osei Kyeretwie SHS struggled with just five points.


Round Three, ‘the Problem of the Day’, saw Adisadel College score one point, Osei Kyeretwie manage two points, and Apam SHS edging closer with five points, tying with Adisadel College at 23 points.


The tension rose as both schools continued to battle fiercely, leading to another tie at 33 points in the ‘Jupay True / False Round’.

The decisive moment came in the final round—the GOIL Riddle Bonanza Round—where Apam SHS surged ahead, correctly answering two riddles to finish with 40 points. Adisadel College, despite being Regional Champions, lost their grip, ending with 36 points. Osei Kyeretwie SHS, unable to catch up, finished with 23 points, losing their seeded status to Apam SHS.


Apam SHS has now advanced to the Quarter-final Stage, while Adisadel College, the Central Regional Champions, and Osei Kyeretwie SHS are left to reflect on a missed opportunity. Apam SHS’s remarkable comeback has become one of the most exciting moments of the competition so far!
