SGS Auditorium - October 17, 2024
The much-anticipated all-girls contest involving Accra Girls' SHS, Aburi Girls' SHS, and Notre Dame Girls' SHS at the Preliminary Stage of the National Championship finally took place at the SGS Auditorium, with Accra Girls' SHS emerging victorious with 39 points at the end of the contest.
The three schools, known for their excellent reputations as some of the "best girls' schools" in the country, sought this bragging right over their competitors. The SGS Auditorium was filled to capacity at the start of the event, with supporters arriving to show up for the girls.
Given the history of the contesting schools, the SGS Auditorium was the place to be. Quiz Mistress Dr Mrs Gladys Odey Schwinger referred to the contest as the 'All-Girls Derby.'
The closely contested competition saw a one-point difference among all three schools at the end of Round One.
Accra Girls, who have been out of the contest for 10 years, took the lead, creating a significant score gap over the other schools by the end of the Round Two.
Some supporters anticipated a contest solely between Aburi Girls and Accra Girls, but Notre Dame Girls SHS made their mark.

Aburi Girls, with three points, managed to win the 'Problem of the Day' in Round Three, but it did not significantly impact their final score.
The Jupay True or False Round saw Aburi Girls gaining and losing points, while Accra Girls SHS and Notre Dame Girls SHS each lost only a single point in this round.
None of the contesting schools managed to win the cash allocated for the Goil Riddle Bonanza Round, as they all failed to answer the riddles correctly.
