The official launch of the 2024 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) was held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the GNAT Hall in Accra. The event, which began with a performance by the Labone School Choir, brought together key dignitaries, including the Chairman of Primetime Limited, Dr Kwaku Mensa-Bonsu; the Managing Director of Primetime Limited, Ms Nana Akua Mensa-Bonsu; Justice Professor Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu; and representatives from the Ghana Education Service (GES), GOIL PLC, Jupay Money Transfer, Pepsodent, and Prudential Life Insurance Ghana.

The balloting process was officially led by Mr Stephen Kwaku Owusu - Deputy Director General (Management Services), GES. Mr Samuel Adjor, the Associate Client Service Director for Primetime Limited, conducted the balloting, revealing that a record 157 schools will be competing in the 2024 edition of the National Championship. This includes both returning schools and several first-time participants such as Kofi Agyei SHTS, Presby SHS, Bompata, Adanwomase SHS, Sirigu Integrated SHS and Serwaa Nyarko Girls SHS.

Mr Stephen Kwaku Owusu, Deputy Director General (Management Services), commended Primetime Limited for its consistency over the past three decades and for delivering the NSMQ with excellence each year.

"The Ghana Education Service is committed to providing quality education, and I am confident this competition will inspire even greater achievements. I appreciate the tireless efforts of Primetime Limited and the sponsors in promoting science and mathematics education in Ghana," he stated.

The balloting allows schools to identify their competitors ahead of the intense competition expected in the coming weeks. With this year’s expanded participation, the balloting marked a crucial step in shaping the path to crowning the next NSMQ champion.
