The 30th Anniversary edition of the National Maths & Science Quiz Kicked off, on October 6, 2023. As an exciting highlight of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, this year's NSMQ is hosted in two distinct regions: KNUST in Kumasi and the National Theatre in Accra. This historic occurrence represents the first time the National Championship spans across two regions. KNUST serves as the venue for the Preliminary four stages of the competition, with the Grand Finale scheduled to captivate audiences at the National Theatre.

Central Region Versus Eastern Region.

Ghana National College is among the seeded schools from the Central Region following an exemplary display of academic excellence in the NSMQ 2022. Mpraeso SHS successfully progressed to the Quarter-final Stage of the competition even though Aggrey did try their best but could not quench the firepower of the winners.

Mpraeso SHS living up to expectation.

In the first round, Aggrey, Ghana National, and Mpraeso lived up to expectations as they all correctly answered their first questions. In a preamble to the competition, Aggrey and Mpraeso continued to perform well by getting the questions right, while Ghana National College failed to answer correctly.

All three schools perfectly answered the subsequent question, demonstrating their preparedness and brilliance in this general questions section. However, it became evident that Ghana National College was lagging behind in points compared to its competitors, despite their overall strong performance.

A bonus point was added to the score sheet of Ghana National College for correctly answering Mpraeso's question, and vice versa. At this point, Aggrey Memorial appeared to be in a strong position to secure more points as they hadn't missed any questions posed by the Quiz Mistress.

The first round ended with intense competition and no abysmal performances. In a closely contested finish, Mpraeso surprised everyone by remarkably recording the highest score of 26 points, followed by 19 points for Ghana National College and 18 points for Aggrey.

Impressive performance by Ghana National at Speed Race.

further into the competition, Aggrey and Mpraeso initially faced difficulties by failing two questions during the Speed Race, while Ghana National College demonstrated competence. Mpraeso later improved their performance, and Aggrey fought their way back into the academic competition, although they had a fair share of incorrect answers. The contest primarily revolved around Ghana National and Mpraeso, with Ghana National College earning extra points for their responses to the last questions. Mpraeso ultimately emerged as the leader with 29 points, closely followed by Ghana National College with 27 points, while Aggrey lagged behind with 15 points.

In a tiebreaker situation, Ghana National and Mpraeso both received two extra points, but Mpraeso was ultimately deemed correct by the Quiz mistress. This boosted Mpraeso's score, securing their lead. Ghana National College's substitution in the True/False Round led them to victory in this round, securing an impressive 39 points. Mpraeso closely followed with 35 points, while Aggrey had 34 points, making it a highly competitive competition.

Triumphant entry of Mpraeso SHS.

In Round Five, the Riddles, the contest was keenly battled between Mpraeso and Aggrey Memorial whereas Ghana National College was nowhere to be found. Not being able to even score a point, Mpraeso and Aggrey Memorial competed for the total riddles' score, hence sharing much of the scores resulting in a total of 34 points and 43 points respectively. This made Mpraeso SHS the winning team of the day.
