Abuakwa State College, Islamic SHS, Kumasi, and Walewale SHTS battled for a spot in the One-eighth Stage at the Auditorium 900. By the end of the contest, Abuakwa State College clinched victory with 51 points, kicking out Walewale SHTS, who scored 32 points, while Islamic SHS, Kumasi, finished with 19 point.

Abuakwa State College and Walewale SHS reported smooth journeys to this year’s National Science & Maths Quiz National Championships. The crowd cheered in approval after their submissions, eager to see how well their runs would go at the National Championships. Meanwhile, Islamic SHS, Kumasi, acknowledged facing challenges. Despite this, all schools assured the crowd they would give their best as they aimed to qualify for the One-eighth Stage.
Abuakwa State College took an early lead in Round One of the contest, scoring 14 points. Walewale SHTS followed closely with 13 points, while Islamic SHS, Kumasi, earned 11 points.
In Round Two, Abuakwa State College extended its lead to 22 points by answering four questions correctly in the Prudential Life Insurance Speed Race. Walewale SHTS remained at 14 points, with Islamic SHS, Kumasi, trailing at eight points.
The boys for the job!
Round Three, the 'Problem of the Day' section, has often been a turning point for many schools. Abuakwa State College, determined to maintain their lead, scored seven points, while Walewale SHTS impressed with eight points. Islamic SHS, Kumasi, managed four points.
In Round Four of the contest, the Jupay True/False round, provided schools with just two options per question. Abuakwa State College had a smooth run, answering seven out of eight questions to reach 42 points. Islamic SHS, Kumasi, answered four questions, earning 16 points, while Walewale SHTS answered six, bringing their total to 32 points.
At this stage, Abuakwa State College was the school to beat. To secure their victory, they correctly answered three riddles in the Goil Riddle Bonanza, earning GH₵800.
After being eliminated at the One-eighth Stage last year, they are back, aiming to go further this time. Their 51 points at the National Championships this year fall short of the 71 points they earned at the Regionals.
