The third day of the 2024 National Science & Maths Quiz National Championship saw an intense contest between Krobo Girls’ SHS, St. Mary’s Boys’ SHS, and Kintampo SHS. After a closely fought battle, St. Mary’s Boys’ SHS claimed victory with 45 points, narrowly edging out Krobo Girls’ SHS, who remained strong competitors throughout the contest.
The contest kicked off with a burst of energy as supporters cheered their contestants, and Quiz Mistress Dr. Anita Oppong asked the students about their expectations. Unsurprisingly, they all expressed confidence in winning the contest, setting the stage for a heated competition.
St. Mary’s Boys SHS wasted no time, dominating the first round with 24 points, leaving Krobo Girls’ SHS and Kintampo SHS behind at 10 and eight points, respectively.
The 'Prudential Life Speed Race' round saw Krobo Girls’ SHS shine with remarkable determination, closing the gap to just two points behind St. Mary’s Boys SHS.
The 'Problem of the Day Round' further increased the stakes as both Krobo Girls’ SHS and St. Mary’s Boys SHS ended with a tie at 26 points. Krobo Girls secured six points in this round, while St. Mary’s Boys managed 4, leaving Kintampo SHS behind.
In the 'Jupay Money Transfer True/False Round’, Krobo Girls’ SHS stole the spotlight by answering every question correctly, earning loud cheers from their supporters. This round saw them surge ahead with 42 points, leaving St. Mary’s Boys at 39 and Kintampo SHS at 15.
However, the Riddles Round became the game-changer. St. Mary’s Boys made an impressive comeback, solving two riddles to overtake Krobo Girls’ SHS by a narrow margin of three points. In a nail-biting finish, St. Mary’s Boys triumphed over their rivals, sealing victory after a tough contest.
This contest was truly a “boot-for-boot” battle between St. Mary’s Boys SHS and Krobo Girls’ SHS.
