Auditorium 900--October 20, 2024.
St James Seminary SHS advanced to the 2024 NSMQ Quarter-final Stage after a commanding performance in their One-eighth contest against Tsito SHTS and Armed Forces SHTS. Although the two schools, who qualified from the Prelims, attempted to challenge the seeded school, they were unable to surpass St James, who secured the win with 50 points.
The contestants, exuding confidence, were ready to compete. St James Seminary SHS, a seeded school, expressed their determination to excel, saying, 'A journey of a thousand miles begins with a step.' Tsito SHTS acknowledged the difficulty of their journey but aimed to move to the next stage.
Armed Forces SHTS, advancing as a top runner-up from the Prelims, simply stated that they were here to do their best. With best wishes from the Quiz Mistress, Dr Thelma Ohene-Agyei, the contest began.
St James Seminary SHS had a strong start in Round One, despite missing their first question, finishing with 21 points. Armed Forces SHTS followed with 11 points, while Tsito SHTS ended the round with 10 points.
St James Seminary SHS faced Armed Forces SHTS in the Prudential Life Speed Race in Round Two, which concluded with St James maintaining their momentum at 32 points, while Armed Forces SHTS finished with 22 points, and Tsito SHTS remained at 10 points.
The 'Problem of the Day' in Round Three, where contestants demonstrate their work on touchscreens, often serves as a crucial turning point. However, all the schools underperformed here, with St James Seminary SHS still remaining on top.
Each school missed one question in the eight asked during the Jupay Money Transfer True/ False round, leaving St James Seminary SHS with a commanding lead as they headed into the potentially decisive final round.
St James Seminary SHS answered only one riddle correctly in the GOIL Riddle Bonanza section. Although Tsito SHTS answered two correctly, they could not surpass the school that had led since Round One. Falling short of the mark needed to earn the Pepsodent Highest Scorer Award, St James nonetheless won the contest and secured their place in the 2024 NSMQ Quarter-final Stage.
