T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, delivered an impressive performance on Thursday, October 19, 2024, securing their spot in the One-eighth Stage of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Prelims. Competing against Amenfiman SHS and Tuobodom SHTS in the 34th contest, T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, clinched victory with an outstanding 71 points, leaving Amenfiman SHS and Tuobodom SHTS trailing with 40 and 21 points, respectively. The contest took place in Auditorium 900 and was moderated by Dr. Thelma Ohene-Agyei.
They said they came to mesmerize, and they did!
When the contestants stepped onto the stage, they wasted no time in setting high expectations with their powerful opening remarks. T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, boldly declared they were there to show their academic prowess. Their sheer confidence coupled with their transformative journey to the National Championships had the audience hooked.
Amenfiman SHS, drawing inspiration from their school's name, placed their faith in the divine, coining "Amen" as their winning chant. Tuobodom SHTS, however, hoped their prayers would carry them through to the One-eighth stage.
From the first round, T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, made it clear that they were here to dominate. Their impressive 23 points mesmerized the crowd and put them in the lead. Amenfiman SHS, trying to keep pace, ended the round with19 points, while Tuobodom SHTS, trailed with 15 points.
Not quite the day for Tuobodom SHTS
The Prudential Life Speed Race proved decisive in the second round. T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, surged ahead, confidently answering 10 questions to take their score to an outstanding 49 points. While Amenfiman SHS managed to add just one point to their tally 20, Tuobodom SHTS struggled further, slipping to 12 points.
Despite their early struggles, Tuobodom refused to back down, giving it their all in the "Problem of the Day" round. Though T.I. AMASS continued to dominate with six points, Tuobodom SHTS added a solid five points to their score, while Amenfiman SHS earned four.
The tension remained high in the Jupay True/False round, where T.I. AMASS and Amenfiman SHS only missed one question each, keeping their contest tight. But once again, Tuobodom SHTS faltered, managing to answer just three questions correctly, widening the gap further.
The boys didn't come to play
The Goil Riddle Bonanza round, proved challenging, with no school answering three out of four riddles to claim the award. However, with 71 points, T.I. AMASS, Kumasi, dominated their tie, securing a spot in the One-eighth stage of the 2024 NSMQ. They were awarded with the Pepsodent Highest Scorer Award—for the highest score across the day’s contests at Auditorium 900.
