SGS Auditorium -October 14, 2024
The second contest of the National Science & Maths Quiz competition took place at the SGS Auditorium. The contest featured Tema Methodist SHS, Bolgatanga SHS, and Shama SHS. At the end of the contest, Tema Methodist SHS advanced to the One-eighth Stage of the competition. They secured an impressive victory with 54 points, while Bolgatanga SHS and Shama SHS trailed behind with 14 and 24 points, respectively.

From the start of the contest, Tema Methodist SHS made it clear they were here to dominate, taking the lead in the first round and maintaining it through to the final round. By the end of Round Two, they had established a commanding lead with 43 points, leaving the other schools far behind.
The atmosphere in the SGS Auditorium was electric, especially after Quiz Mistress Dr Gladys Odey Schwinger announced Tema Methodist SHS's points at the end of Round Two, prompting enthusiastic cheers from the audience.
In Round Three, the "Problem of the Day," Shama SHS earned three points, while Tema Methodist SHS managed just one point, with Bolgatanga SHS failing to score. In Round Four, all three schools struggled, missing their first two questions, causing murmurs in the auditorium. The tension was eased when Dr Schwinger humorously remarked, “How can it be False?” after another miss by Bolgatanga SHS. The audience cheered when Bolgatanga SHS finally answered their last True or False question correctly.
Unfortunately for Bolgatanga SHS, who were eliminated at the Preliminary Stage in 2023, their hopes of advancing to the finals were dashed again this year. Despite their elimination, Bolgatanga SHS earned the loudest cheers from the audience.
While Bolgatanga SHS won the crowd’s admiration, it was Tema Methodist SHS who emerged victorious, securing their place in the One-eighth Stage of the 2024 NSMQ with a well-earned win.
