Aburi Presby SHTS wins with 47 points and qualifies to the Quarter-finals

The 30th Anniversary edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz kicked off, on October 6th, 2023. As an exciting highlight of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, this year's NSMQ is hosted in two distinct regions: KNUST in Kumasi and the National Theatre in Accra. This historic occurrence represents the first time the National Championship spans across two regions. KNUST serves as the venue for the Preliminary four stages of the competition, with the Grand Finale scheduled to captivate audiences at the National Theatre.

At 12:30 p.m., the contestants took their seats, and the Quiz Mistress, Dr. Anita Oppong, initiated the competition at exactly 2:45 p.m., by introducing the participants. Among them was the seeded school, Aburi Presby SHTS, which had automatically qualified for the One-Eighth stage following an impressive run last year. They faced off against KNUST SHS and T.I AMASS Kumasi in a battle for a spot in the Quarter-finals. From Round One to Round Five, Aburi Presby SHTS consistently outperformed their competitors with remarkable scores.

T.I AMASS Kumasi sadly lost their chance to qualify to the Quarter-finals

Despite substituting in Round Three, T.I AMASS couldn't secure a spot in the Quarter-final Stage of NSMQ 2023. In contrast, the competition was initially seen as a rematch between T.I AMASS and KNUST SHS, however, Aburi Presby SHTS took charge, putting an end to the rivalry by winning convincingly with an impressive score of 47 points and eliminating both opposing schools from the competition.
