The 30th Anniversary edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz kicked off, on October 6th, 2023. As an exciting highlight of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, this year's NSMQ is being hosted in two distinct regions: KNUST in Kumasi and the National Theatre in Accra. This historic occurrence represents the first time the National Championship spans across two regions. KNUST serves as the venue for the Preliminary four stages of the competition, with the Grand Finale scheduled to captivate audiences at the National Theatre.
At exactly 3:30 pm, the contestants took their seats, and the Quiz Mistress, Dr. Anita Oppong, initiated the competition at exactly 4:00 pm by introducing the participants. T.I AMASS, Fomena, secured an impressive 45 points, outperforming Bolgatanga and Regentropfen in the Prelims stage.
T.I AMASS losing hope after Round Three
Prempeh College, a five-time champion and last year's first runner-up, has a strong desire to reclaim the victory they nearly secured last year, only to lose it to Presec, Legon. They were part of the seeded schools that automatically qualified to the One-eighth stage and Navrongo SHS on the other hand progressed to the One-eighth stage as a runner-up from the prelims.
At the conclusion of the first four rounds, Prempeh College held a significant lead with 52 points. However, much to the disappointment of Prempeh College's supporters, they were unable to answer any of the Riddle questions in Round Five. T.I AMASS Fomena swiftly responded to three questions, increasing their score from 28 to 34 points.
