Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, a seven-time champion in the National Science & Maths Quiz Competition, was pleasantly surprised today by the remarkable performance of their opponents during the One-eighth Stage contest. PRESEC, being one of the seeded schools, went head-to-head against Konongo-Odumasi SHS and Kumasi Wesley Girls’ SHS at the Kumapley Auditorium in a bid to secure a spot in the Quarter-final Stage. At the conclusion of the contest, PRESEC emerged as the winner with an impressive score of 60 points. Konongo Odumasi closely followed with a commendable score of 41 points. In addition to their victory, PRESEC also secured the Goil Riddle Bonanza Prize of GH₵1,200.00. This remarkable performance by both teams made for an exciting and competitive event.

Defending Champions, 'PRESEC' satisfies the throng.

The 30th Anniversary edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz kicked off, on October 6th, 2023. As an exciting highlight of the 30th Anniversary celebrations, this year's NSMQ is being hosted in two distinct regions: KNUST in Kumasi and the National Theatre in Accra. This historic occurrence represents the first time the National Championship spans across two regions. KNUST serves as the venue for the Preliminary four stages of the competition, with the Grand Finale scheduled to captivate audiences at the National Theatre.

Konongo Odumasi excited after scoring 41 points in Round 5

PRESEC, a school with an illustrious history of seven National Science & Maths Quiz Competition victories, had secured their place in the One-eighth Stage as one of the seeded schools. Eager to continue their impressive streak, PRESEC was determined to outshine their competitors and advance to the Quarter-finals.

However, an interesting twist occurred during Round Two of the competition when PRESEC raised objections to some of the questions, sparking a protest that lasted for over 30 minutes. Dr. Anita Oppong, the Quiz Mistress, had to consult with a consultant to modify one of the questions, ultimately benefiting PRESEC.

Throughout the competition, despite PRESEC's lead from Round One to Round Five, Konongo Odumasi emerged as a formidable and competitive opponent. In the end, PRESEC secured their place in the Quarter-final Stage with a total of 60 points. To add to their success, they were also awarded the Goil Riddle Bonanza Prize of GH₵1200.00, making this event an exciting and memorable contest. Konongo fought hard, but their arsenal was completely annihilated by the more experienced Presecans
