Our Lady of Grace Senior High School, one of the private schools participating in the 2024 edition of the NSMQ National Championship, has secured a spot in the One-eighth Stage of the competition. Adding to their triumph, they won the GOIL Riddle Bonanza Prize of GH₵800 and an additional GH₵1,000 for being the Pepsodent Highest Scorer.
Facing off against Assin State College and Bueman SHS, Our Lady of Grace SHS wasted no time in establishing their dominance, finishing the first round with 21 points. Assin State College lagged behind with 10 points, and Bueman SHS barely made a mark with just three points.
In Round Two, the audience couldn’t contain their excitement, as Our Lady Grace SHS answered every single question, expanding their lead to 40 points. Even the Quiz mistress, Dr. Anita Oppong, couldn't help but smile—maybe she was as surprised as Assin State College and Bueman SHS, who were left speechless. The supporters of Our Lady of Grace SHS chanted, “Are you surprised?”
Assin State College made a valiant attempt to close the gap in the ‘Prudential Life True or False Round’, but Our Lady of Grace SHS still managed to hold their stand.
In the ‘GOIL Riddles Round’, Our Lady of Grace sealed the deal, correctly answering three riddles and bagging GH₵800 as the GOIL Riddle Bonanza Prize. With their total score sitting comfortably at 59 points, they left Assin State College and Bueman SHS far behind, earning additional prizes of GH₵1,000 as the Pepsodent Highest Scorer.
Private schools seem to be making quite the statement this year! Along with Wallahs Academy and Hope College, Our Lady of Grace SHS is proving that the competition is no longer just for the big public names. Could this be the rise of private schools in NSMQ?
