At the very first edition of the NSMQ in the 1993/94 academic year, St. Rose’s SHS was eliminated in the Southern Sector semifinals by Achimota School, the eventual Southern Sector Champions who then lost to Prempeh College in the National Champion of Champions contest in 1994.
Nearly thirty years later, Lt Col Laurinda Xolali Adusu-Donkor, a member of the 1993 St. Rose’s SHS team is returning to the spotlight as a guest of the #NSMQLiveChat, a live conversation with former contestants of the NSMQ every fortnight on Thursdays.
Life after St. Rose’s After her eventful time at St. Rose's SHS, Laurinda studied Biochemistry at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) and graduated in 1999 with Honours. In August 2002, she enlisted into the Ghana Armed Forces and was commissioned as a Lieutenant. She then began her dual career as a soldier and scientist with the Ghana Army with a posting to the Chemical Pathology and Immunology Department of the 37 Military Hospital Pathology Division as a Biomedical Scientist (BMS).
She earned an EMBA Human Resource Management option from the University of Ghana Business School in 2013, and an MPhil in Chemical Pathology from the College of Health Sciences at the University of Ghana in September 2021.
Lt Col Adusu-Donkor has had vast experience in United Nations Peacekeeping operations in different war-torn countries such as La Cote D’Ivoire, Liberia and twice in Southern Lebanon, where she was the senior Force Management officer of the 2015 operation. She has thus seen and experienced the devastating nature of war and armed conflicts.
Personal Life
Laurinda is a happily married mother of two, who enjoys Handicrafts, gardening, watching television and movies in her spare time.
