Auditorium 900--October 15, 2024

The first contest of Day Two at the Preliminary Stage of the National Championship featured Adonten SHS, Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ SHS, and Tolon SHS. Adonten SHS secured their place in the One-eighth Stage with an impressive score of 54 points, while Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ SHS and Tolon SHS finished with 36 and nine (9) points, respectively.

Adonten SHS made the ultimate return to the NSMQ

The contest commenced with a warm welcome from Quiz Mistress Dr Thelma Ohene-Adjei, who helped put the contestants at ease. All the schools acknowledged the challenging journey to the Preliminary Stage of the 2024 National Science & Maths Quiz, but each expressed hope of advancing to the next stage of the competition.

Adonten SHS, who missed out on qualifying for the National Championship last year, took a narrow lead in Round One with 15 points. Yaa Asantewaa Girls' SHS closely followed with 14 points, while Tolon SHS, after missing their first question, struggled through the round, finishing with four points.

After setting the pace in the first round, Adonten SHS maintained their momentum as the top performers in the Prudential Life Speed Race, finishing Round Two with 33 points. Yaa Asantewaa Girls' SHS trailed with 17 points, while Tolon SHS remained stuck at three points

And Adonten SHS earned a salute!

All schools underperformed in the Problem of the Day. Tolon SHS and Adonten SHS each scored 2 points, while Yaa Asantewaa Girls' SHS earned no points.

In Round Four (Jupay Money Transfer True/False), Adonten SHS, still in a comfortable lead, raised their score to 48 points by correctly answering most of the questions. Tolon SHS and Yaa Asantewaa Girls' SHS faced a tougher challenge, ending the round with nine and 33 points, respectively

Dejection, as Tolon SHS crash out
